Depression In Older Women Is It True

Discovering Hope - So lets break this thing down piece by piece blow by blow. Let's understand first and foremost it all boils down to two words plain and simple...discovering hope.

Somewhere along the way hope was lost and simply needs to be rediscovered.

It seems 50 is the magic number at least when it comes to women. In the blink of an eye it seems life changes so abruptly and without warning. The age when life changing events are more likely to happen. Events highly likely to bring on depression in one of many of its forms. Events like the death of a spouse, A major illness, the transition from an active working life into a slower more rehearsed lifestyle of retirement.

Although some women after a brief period of adjustments are able to regain their balance at least emotionally while others are not so fortunate. A lot of times depression in older women is over looked due to their reluctance to openly discuss their feelings.

An Imbalance - Off center would be the easiest way to explain depression. A time when you are off so to speak i mean you know you. Which makes it easy to recognize when your sleeping too much, eating too much worrying too much. these are the clear cut signs your suffering from depression in some form or another.

Ischemia - Is a condition that restricts blood flow where blood vessels become less flexible. They harden and prevent blood from flowing normally to the body's organs, including the brain. If this occurs, an older women with no family or personal history of depression may develop what some doctors call "vascular depression." which can lead to to heart disease or stroke.

A need to matter - Often women 50 and over often develop a need to matter. Reasons vary from being subservient to a spouse to a need to realize unrealized dreams. Clearly it explains why 70% of small business owners are women.

My opinion - A missed point. It seems they're so busy trying to self-define that they miss a lot of life's true treasures. The one's tucked away in small spaces of time into life's small but significant pockets. A time when you get to know you in spite of everything that happened before and every happening now. A time for you..  A time when you mankind's source of reproduction can understand your true worth. Few if any ever uncover some of the hidden treasures of life.
A walk on the beach
A picnic
A glass of wine

After The Fact - Fortunately studies show that depression decreases in Post-menopausal women. Which means in any case depression is not a part of aging. So don't get the two mixed up. To age does not mean to become depressed. Actually it should represent the opposite and show a life fulfilled. With many cherished relationships and accomplishments you should be able to reflect back on. It should be much more of a celebration than a regret in any case.

Hope Rediscovered - Fortunately there are also support groups for women suffering from depression. So if you are find one near you. Groups that offer confidential options options in both group and one on one settings for you to have your feeling properly addressed in an appropriate environment. At get into an atmosphere of peers and the alleviate pressure. Life is fair you deserve to be happy. So make an effort and expect results. And always remember somewhere along the way hope was lost and simply needs to be rediscovered.

I've Been Thinking...Your Thoughts

I've been thinking...

About love

About hate...

About perfection...

About not so great...

I've been thinking...

Even more so about war

About senior citizens...

About babies...

I've thought about a definite yes...

Compared to a maybe...

About racial dissension...

About man...

About lady...

About the poorness of soup...

Compared to the richness of gravy

Away from Ignorance

More towards intelligence

More towards complex thoughts

Or...

Even more so about common sense

And I think half of these will bring you down...

But...

I know we need them all to make the world go 'round

Colors Do Matter... Wear Some Pink

In advertising the color Pink represents "Sweetness" and is most often associated with femininity, tenderness, love. Soft nurtured it has an overwhelming niceness affect. Pink in short...is feelgood. A guaranteed uplifting on sight. The true "Happy" color it seems to affect us all in some way. So when getting dressed make a conscious effort to include some Pink. It could make a difference psychologically, mentally, spiritually.

A versatile color it gives impressions in all directions. From new to used, young to old , highs to lows, laughter to tears it has a place. Pink seems to like Blues like Powder Blue where when combined they create a sense of innocence, kindness, wholesomeness and purity.

** So if your feeling a little dark put on a little Pink it could brighten both you and your day.

Experiments In Pink -  For starters try a wearing a pair of Pink socks for the day! Interesting fact is the fact that "you're wearing Pink socks" for some reason seems to linger in the background of your mind. As the day moves along "Pink Socks" grows into somewhat of a secret and for some reason sooner or later you have to tell someone. An office setting is a little different. The place where you would rather keep them under raps. But as they tend to do, Pink socks once discovered automatically becomes the talk of the office.

Pink has always been the ultimate accent to every woman's beauty. A woman in Pink gives it certain beauty. An inviting warmth that all you natural caregivers have. Somehow a smile in Pink is a touch brighter. A Pink blouse is a little softer. Interestingly in some way the color seems to effect or have an effect on us all. So if things in your life seem to be getting a bit out of control remember to stay Pink stay happy.

Pink calms and reassures our emotional energies, alleviating feelings of anger, aggression, resentment, abandonment and neglect.

Pinkies - If Pink is in fact your favorite or one of your favorite colors then your a Pinkie. Congratulations! Your a happy person. You are already where most of us would like to be.

  • You are loving, kind, generous and sensitive to the needs of others.
  • You are friendly and approachable with a warmth and softness others are drawn to.
  • You are the nurturers of the world - you love to give nurturing and to receive nurturing in return.

The all and everything... Pink although passive in many ways is a color that never compromises. If Pink was a person it would like most people it too would have one solitary goal. The same goal in fact as many of us have tight now to be loved unconditionally to be accepted. Pink demands fairness and only expects what it honestly deserves, to be happy.

* Psychotherapy - An very positive environment filled with trained professions and understanding staff that both recognize and understand the disorder. The main reason most patients are switched, or prescribed a new medication. Other reason could include allergic reactions, incompatible with other medications, side effects and more.  Anti-depressants for the most part has been deemed a successful in treating depression. They are effective and can have a lasting effect.

* Electroconvulsive Therapy -  Not a real popular choice. As most people suffering from depression have a built-in fear so to speak. Which makes this option not one the first choices. In a Nut Shell they hook two electrodes up to each side of your head (each temple) then shoot electrical impulses through your brain. ECT has been deemed somewhat successful.
