Discovering Hope - So lets break this thing down piece by
piece blow by blow. Let's understand first and foremost it all boils
down to two words plain and simple...discovering hope.
Somewhere
along the way hope was lost and simply needs to be rediscovered.
It seems 50 is the magic number at least when it comes to women. In the blink of an eye it seems life changes so abruptly and without warning. The age when life changing events are more likely to happen. Events highly likely to bring on depression in one of many of its forms. Events like the death of a spouse, A major illness, the transition from an active working life into a slower more rehearsed lifestyle of retirement.
Although some women after a brief period of adjustments are able to regain their balance at least emotionally while others are not so fortunate. A lot of times depression in older women is over looked due to their reluctance to openly discuss their feelings.
Ischemia - Is a condition that restricts blood flow where blood vessels become less flexible. They harden and prevent blood from flowing normally to the body's organs, including the brain. If this occurs, an older women with no family or personal history of depression may develop what some doctors call "vascular depression." which can lead to to heart disease or stroke.
A need to matter - Often women 50 and over often develop a need to matter. Reasons vary from being subservient to a spouse to a need to realize unrealized dreams. Clearly it explains why 70% of small business owners are women.
My opinion - A missed point. It seems they're so busy trying to self-define that they miss a lot of life's true treasures. The one's tucked away in small spaces of time into life's small but significant pockets. A time when you get to know you in spite of everything that happened before and every happening now. A time for you.. A time when you mankind's source of reproduction can understand your true worth. Few if any ever uncover some of the hidden treasures of life.

A picnic
A glass of wine
After The Fact - Fortunately studies show that depression decreases in Post-menopausal women. Which means in any case depression is not a part of aging. So don't get the two mixed up. To age does not mean to become depressed. Actually it should represent the opposite and show a life fulfilled. With many cherished relationships and accomplishments you should be able to reflect back on. It should be much more of a celebration than a regret in any case. Hope Rediscovered - Fortunately there are also support groups for women suffering from depression. So if you are find one near you. Groups that offer confidential options options in both group and one on one settings for you to have your feeling properly addressed in an appropriate environment. At get into an atmosphere of peers and the alleviate pressure. Life is fair you deserve to be happy. So make an effort and expect results. And always remember somewhere along the way hope was lost and simply needs to be rediscovered.
